A vibrant and chaotic composition from Miró’s L’Enfance d’Ubu, a sub‑series within his larger Ubu cycle inspired by Alfred Jarry’s absurdist anti‑hero. The work features two fantastical, childlike figures rendered in bold color, floating symbols, and spontaneous black linework. Miró channels the grotesque humor and anarchic spirit of Ubu into a visual language that is both playful and unsettling, merging Surrealism with raw, instinctive mark‑making.

L’Enfance d’Ubu is among the most expressive and psychologically charged of Miró’s Ubu works. Created late in his career, these lithographs reveal his fascination with primal imagery, satire, and the subconscious. The hand‑signed pencil signature in the lower right corner confirms this impression as an authentic artist‑signed print from the Mourlot/Tériade edition.
